News from Sally's Uncle, Colin Larkin
"Just finished a tasty project Confessin' The Blues with the Rolling Stones.
I am still working on a detailed biography of the lyricist Will Jennings and a mammoth guide to the 1000 Albums To Take To The Grave. I have also completed a visual history of Vintage Pan Books Cover Me, and still writing a monster music autobiography - Phonographic Memory."
Colin was was the first person to give me a taste of recording vocals when I was aged 13 or 14. I sang a cappella into a 4 track an oddly diverse combo of songs including The Beatles' 'Nowhere Man', The theme song to 'The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams', and 'Wouldn't it be Lovely' from My Fair Lady....
A wonderful writer and musician, Colin has always supported my projects and has kindly credited me in many of his music books and encyclopedias. The Virgin Encyclopedia of Dance Music published in 1999 is dedicated to me, as he knew I loved the genre.

'The arrogance of time'
I Played with September song at Wrington Memorial Hall on 7th July. A hot day and high from England's win, the atmosphere was great. I loved singing the songs including 2 new ones from the next album. Roll on more studio sessions with this musically gifted bunch. Such a pleasure to work them.

'Love life at the forge'
Absolutely loved the gig at The Forge with Lady Nade, Mrs Jones & Company and Traps. Traps absolutely rocked the house! Tried out a new song with Nade which we have to record. Thanks to Rich Price for the piano backing and the lovely key change resolve at the song's end. I'm keeping that! The Forge is such an amazing venue and truly enhanced the music with it's fabulous decor and location. They generously donated £150 to the £600+ made on the night so that's at least another £750.00 for Penny Brohn. Wonderful!
September Song 'The Arrogance of Time'
The gig takes place at
Sally contributed to the album on many levels. Firstly as a source of encouragement and ideas during the creative process.
To return the compliment, both John and Steve contributed to Sally's album; John on guitar and Steve providing vocals for their cover of the Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush classic 'Don't Give Up'.
