Bristol 10k 2016
Since summer 2016, Sally has been a fundraiser for Penny Brohn UK raising over £10.5k with a range of fundraising initiatives including running the Bristol 10k and producing a crowd-funded charity album with Access Creative colleagues.
Sally's husband Chris Jones was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal Lung Cancer in July 2016. Soon after this news they visited Penny Brohn UK and immediately felt the benefits of their visit. Chris attended treatment support sessions whilst he undertook a gruelling chemotherapy programme and Sally visited for healing treatments and guidance. They both attended a 'Living Well' residential course in April 2017.
The idea for the album came about about when Sally took some time out for herself and visited the centre for a Shiatsu massage. She picked up some leaflets about ways to fundraise, had a cup of tea in the cafe and took a walk around the beautiful grounds. It was driving back to work when the idea for a fundraising album popped into her head. She shared the idea with Chris, friends and colleagues and all responses to the idea were overwhelmingly positive. She approached the Penny Brohn fundraising team and they encouraged and supported her efforts.
The completion of the album was celebrated with a very successful and enjoyable launch event at the Penny Brohn centre on 1st July 2017. Chris was not well enough to attend the launch but was able to watch streamed with his family and say hello to all the many well-wishers and friends who attended. Chris died just days later.
Sally has also helped also raise awareness and funds for Winston's Wish (https://www.winstonswish.org), another important charity that has helped Sally and Chris support their son with their helpline, workshops and publications. As a thank you to Winston's Wish, Chris's sister 'Bean', walked on hot coals in 2018 and raised over £800.00.
'Love Life at The Forge'
In June 2018, Sally organised a charity gig to raise further funds for the amazing charity, Penny Brohn Uk. The gig was a sell out success and a brilliant night with some very talented artists.
Lady Nade and Sally's band Mrs Jones & Company were proud to provide some of the entertainment at the end of Stomp sponsored walk. Over 300 people signed up for this amazing event last October.
